The key enablers for a green hydrogen economy in India will be high prices for natural gas, blending quotas of green hydrogen, international collaboration in supply chains, manufacturing and research, and innovative PSUs and private sector companies investing in green hydrogen pilots.

The most important measure currently proposed is to mandate blending quotas of green hydrogen for conventional hydrogen producers and consumers. International demand and exports from India are being supported through important green hydrogen partnership agreements with the European Union, Germany, Denmark, Japan and other countries.

The Government of India is developing measures similar to the Production Linked Incentives (PLI) scheme to support the manufacturing of electrolysers and green hydrogen in India.
