Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) has been formulated with the vision of extending the coverage of irrigation 'Har Khet ko pani' and improving water use efficiency 'More crop per drop' in a focused manner with end to end solution on source creation, distribution, management, field application and extension activities.

Northern Farm Machinery Training & Testing Institute conducts training courses in operation, maintenance and repair of farm machinery and equipment, and in the improved mechanized farming techniques for the benefits of progressive farmers, tractor owners, technicians, in-service personnel and foreign nationals sponsored under international co-operation programmes.

Agricultural mechanization not only enables efficient utilization of various inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, plant protection chemicals and water for irrigation but also it helps in poverty alleviation by making farming an attractive enterprise.
