SAMEER Kolkata Centre has been pursuing its objective of doing advanced research and development in the areas of RF, Microwave & Millimeter Wave Technology, EMI/EMC and relating these to user requirements by undertaking R & D projects and providing consultancy services. Through the medium of these projects & services, the Centre has increased its interaction with Industries and Public Sector Units and contributed to their growth.

CMET's R&D activities at present include development of thick film materials, polymers for electronics, specialty chemicals and glasses, ultra high purity and refractory metals, semiconductors, electronic ceramics and fine powder processing. Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurs (TIDE) Scheme was put in place by MeitY in 2008 to promote innovation by nurturing startups in Information Technology, Communications (ICT) domain. Under the TIDE Scheme, financial assistance is provided to Institutions of Higher Learning to strengthen their Technology Incubation Centres for enabling young entrepreneurs to create technology startup companies for commercial exploitation of technologies developed by them.
