Community extension services in mental health is one of the major trust areas of the Institution. These extension services bring the limited mental health professionals from the hospital set up to the community, with an objective of covering and serving the larger mentally ill population.

The Medical Record Section maintains the comprehensive data of patients of the hospital in a way that facilitates scientific preservation and smooth retrieval of record for future use. Recognizing its importance, a full-fledged department with adequate space was set up in the OPD building. Computerization of the medical records was started in the year 2000. Presently, all records of Indoor and OPD patients are systematically preserved and updated in computerized format.

The Indoor treatment team consists of Psychiatrist, Senior Resident, Junior Resident, Psychiatric Social Worker, Clinical Psychologist and Psychiatric Nursing staff including ward sisters and staff nurses.

The OPD or Out Patient Department of Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health, Tezpur provides need based services to the patients attending the institute. The OPD is usually the first point of contact of a person seeking the services of the institute.

The services of Department of Geriatric Mental Health were initiated at Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH) from 1st of August 2021. The department is involved in providing specialized mental health services to persons older than 60 years of age as well as training and academic exposure in the field of geriatric mental health.

Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH), set up as Tezpur Lunatic Asylum in 1876, has served the mental health needs for many decades. However, children and adolescents with developmental, behavioral, and mental health problems were seen along with adult patients until recently.

The Department of Addiction Medicine has been started in May 2021 to provide standard evidence-based holistic care to individuals with substance use and addictive disorders (like alcohol, tobacco, other drugs as well as behavioral addictions).

The full-fledged Department of Anaesthesiology was started in the year 2003 following the purchase of computerized Electro-Convulsive Therapy machine and Boyle's apparatus. Modified ECT was introduced in the year 2004. The department is fully involved with the patient care services in addition to undertaking theory classes and demonstration sessions to the post graduate and diploma students of the Institute. Besides, it also caters to the medical students and professionals coming from other academic institutions.

The Department of Radiology was started in the year 1999 as a specialized, full-fledged department to meet the clinical needs in diagnostic imaging and image-guided therapies of the institute. Currently, the Department has a modern CT Scan machine, X- Ray machine and a Color Doppler Ultrasonic machine for the purpose.
